The National Indian Health Board (NIHB), in partnership with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), is hosting the fourth Infectious Disease Regional Institute focusing on Portland Indian Health Service (IHS) Area from February 28 – March 1, 2023. The Institute provides Tribes and frontline public health professionals an opportunity to strategize how to apply infection control principles necessary to protect themselves, their facility, their family, and their community from infectious disease threats, such as COVID-19. In addition, the Institute will share response tools and resources available to detect, investigate, and monitor infectious disease outbreaks. The hybrid two-day event includes workshops, interactive exercises, and discussions to foster peer-to-peer networks and build disaster resilience across Indian Country. CME, CHES, and NCPD continuing education credits will be offered. Target Audience This Institute targets Native physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, school nurses, school administrators, pharmacists, health educators, medical and nursing students, other health care providers, first responders, and public health professionals interested in updating their knowledge and skills on emergency preparedness, infection prevention and control principles, outbreak recovery and mitigation activities. |
